PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND STEERING PROCEDURES

SFERE has a special department dedicated to the management of overseas scholarship programs. Composed of Academic Advisors and Students' Relations officers, this department conducts the following activities.

Candidates’ academic selection and pre-orientation

Candidates are selected in their home country through individual interviews conducted by French university professors, and according to strict procedures of evaluation of their academic potential, their personal motivation and their capacity to adapt to a foreign environment.

The knowledge of French language is not taken into account at this stage.

Academic placement

Conducted by SFERE's Academic Advisors, the placement process is based upon the conclusions of the academic selection, and according to a thoroughly planned and strictly structured result-based procedure.

Taking into account the whole potential of the French academic network, it results in the final admittance of each student in at least one programme adapted to its objective of study/research and targeted degree (university, labs, engineering schools ....).

Monitoring and pedagogical follow-up

SFERE's monitoring is a customized follow up and assistance throughout the studies, until completion, which places the student within optimal studying conditions and optimises his chances of success.

It relies upon specific agreements signed with the hosting educational institutions, which commit themselves to respect specific obligations in terms of tutoring and reporting.

In relation with the professors, the hosting institutions and the students, SFERE endeavours to:

conduct regular monitoring visits on campus,
sort out academic, pedagogical, administrative and personal difficulties arising during their stay,
elaborate regular pedagogical reports for their sponsoring institution in their home country.

Linguistic, cultural and scientific integration

Depending on each scholarship program, the country of origin, and the targeted degree, SFERE designs tailor-made linguistic, scientific and cultural courses whose aim is to pave the way for the best possible integration within the French academic system.

Set up in the home country and/or in France, these courses have two main objectives:

to bring the students to a level of French language (general and specialised) adapted to the targeted course,
to smooth the path of his academic and cultural integration.

Welcoming students upon arrival and providing adequate support

Upon arrival in France, students are instantly taken care of and transferred to their town of study or campus. Likewise, they are provided with administrative support to help them settle down as smoothly as possible.

Administration of all educational and living expenditures

SFERE ensures, on behalf of the foreign sponsorship institution, the administrative and financial management of the programme:

educational expenditures (yearly registration fees, bench fees, seminars and congresses, field missions...),
living allowances, and other allowances (book, computer...)
medical and social insurances (compulsory),
plane tickets between home country and France.

A secure extranet system, developped by SFERE for its own needs and exclusively dedicated to the monitoring of all students under its supervision, enables its partners to have an all time access to the results and evaluation of their scholars in France. SFERE's partners can check on line their scholars' progress in France, and download their academic records.
